5 themes of geography response

Analyzing the five themes of geography helps people better understand connections between people and earth because all of the themes of geography are used to help people in their everyday lives. It helps you understand connections between the earth because themes like location, and Humans and the environment and region because with all of these themes it describes things that are on the earth. For location it tell you where you or something else is in the world, so it makes it easier to know where you are going or where you are. Humans and the environment helps because it tells you what things are and if they are man made or not. Region can help because it tells you what an area is like, whether it’s climate or landforms. It can also help by helping you choose where to do work or to do work like farming, because it can tell you what and where the best conditions are for that.  Themes like Movement and place can help people understand the connection between people. Movement helps because people need to transport things in order to survive. If they can’t then most people will not get the things they need. Also it help people spread things like ideas so people can understand things if they are confused or use them to help people or other thing grow. PLace helps because without it most people wouldn’t places to work or stay or live because there is now certain place for someone without it.



Place because I just feel like it’s a lot like location and it’s hard to tell the difference for me and for place to have it’s own definition in my head, and my brain also doesn’t go right to it when I think of the five themes of geography.

    Reece, I too think that place can be a hard topic to learn because of it’s similarity to location.You did a good job of explaining how each theme helped us too. Your map was also very well done, along with the information that was so organized.

    I, too agree that that that people use the 5 themes in their everyday lives. This post helped to understand how they describe things on earth and also how it helps to spread ideas when people are confused. I agree. Something to consider is to use shorter sentences and use the word it less because it gets confusing. Also I could not find movement of goods. This made me consider whether movement showed relationships between people or both people and the world. Overall I thought this was very informational.

    Reece, I liked how you you said that people use 5 themes of geography everyday, very creative. These paragraphs help me really understand what the 5 themes are. One thing that confused me and you should look out for is that your sentences ted to be a little bit longer so you might want to shorten them a little. But good job!

    Reece your blog post made me think about how the 5 themes of geography help us to analyze the world.
    You used specific information about movement , how people move from place to place, and how region can defy and cross borders. I agree with how you described the 5 themes, what they are, and how they are used to analyze the world.
    I also like how you described region and location, which are usually harder themes to describe in a summary. I also agreed with how you described each of the 5 themes with great detail.

    Reece, I agree with you when you say you get location and place mixed up. They have similar meanings and they get mixed up. I think it is smart of you to make a new definition to help understand place a little more and not get them mixed up. I made a new definition for place so I knew how to identify place too.

      Thank you Barra, I think it is a very smart idea to make your own definitions to help you, I should try it sometime. Interesting that you also get place and location mixed up, it helps me a lot by letting me know i'm not the only one.

    your introductory sentence was a bit incomplete but that is probably the only thing wrong with your paragraph, I agree with most of the things you say and you include incredibly valid and detailed information and I can relate to your explaination of movement and place. Good job!

What I found easy about basic map skills was the continents and ocean because I feel like they are easy to remember and I had already learned them in elementary school.  I struggled most  with coordinates. I found it difficult because I didn’t really understand latitude and longitude so it made it hard to find the location of the coordinates. Something that makes it more difficult is that i keep mixing up latitude and longitude so that makes it hard when trying to find the coordinates that are given to me. Basic map skills are necessary because if you are asked to go somewhere or you are lost and you don’t know where you are you can use your basic map skills to help you find your way to where you need to go. They help you better understand geography because geography is about knowing about and learning about places and you have a hard time learning about them if you don’t know your basic map skills so if you know them you will understand geography better.

I think it is important to learn about standard of living because it can and maybe will help you in the future. When you get old enough to move and buy a house, you may need to use standard of living to help you determine where to live. You don’t want to live in a country that has a low GDP per capita because that means the countries wealth is low. You don’t want to live in a country were their life expectancy is 65 years, because that means they have low health. Knowing about standard of living is important to learn about because it helps you better understand information about other places and may help you when you do things later in life. Ideas about economic and standard of living can be analyzed using the 5 themes of geography because you can compare parts of standard of living like health and education to parts of the 5 themes of geography like location and movement.
